Writers normally only get one shot at interesting
a company or producer with a script so it's essential that
when the script is sent it's as good as it can possibly be.
It's always good to get another 'pair of eyes' to look at
your work, as sometimes someone else can spot a problem the writer may have missed.
Even though friends and family will always offer to read your work, unfortunately
they're not always as objective as they could be, and whilst
praise is always welcome, a massaged ego isn't a quality writers
need to develop in order to secure regular paid work!
A lot of writers rarely get the opportunity to receive a critique
on their work from experienced professionals, so our script
reading and appraisal service aims to match up writers
with people from the industry whose comments and advice will
hopefully guide the writer to produce a better rewrite. Our
script readers are either university/college lecturers or
professional writers with numerous writing credits and/or
qualifications. Several of our readers also read scripts for
TV companies and theatres.
The reading fee for full-length stage/radio plays, films or
single episodes of TV series/serials is £50 per script.
Short films, stage/radio plays (30 minutes or under), TV sitcom
episodes and TV soap episodes are £40 per script. The length of the reader's report will usually be 2-3
pages for a short script and 3-4 pages for a full length script, although it is impossible to give a guarenteed length as
scripts differ tremendously in style and substance and some require more feedback than others. For writers who require
greater coverage we do offer a more 'in depth' script reading service where the reader will analyse the script scene by
scene. This reading service costs £90 and the report will usually be around six pages in length. If you'd like the in
depth service please email info@thescriptvault.com with brief details of the type of script you've written and with any
specific appraisal requirements, we will then send you a payment and upload link for your script and will allocate a
suitable reader.
You can send your script by email to us and pay the reading fee using a credit or debit card. If you prefer to send a
hard copy of your script and wish to have it returned please add an extra £10 to cover postal costs (see below).
To pay the reading fee simply enter the Author's name in the box below and click the appropriate script reading payment
button below, you will then be taken to the PayPal website where you will be able to make a payment either by Credit or
Debit Card.
Once you have made your payment you will be returned to this page and will then need to click the 'SEND YOUR SCRIPT' button.
Clicking this link will open an e-mail, if you follow the instructions in the e-mail you will then be able to email your script and
details to us. N.B. Hotmail and other 'web based' email users
should click the Hotmail link instead.
If you would prefer to pay by cheque or postal order please use the 'Send Your Script' link below to send your script
and then post your payment to THE SCRIPT VAULT, P O BOX 36, TODMORDEN, OL14 7WZ. Payments should be made to 'The Script Vault Ltd'. When
you send your script please mention that you are posting your payment.
You can send your script as a Word document or in any of the following formats: DOC, WPS, RTF, PDF, CELTX, PAGES (Mac) or FDR
(Final Draft). Please contact us before sending any files that are not in these formats.
N.B. If you use Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, AOL or any other 'web based' email service click the link below to send your script.
If you prefer to send a hard copy of your script please post your script to the
address below, remember to add £10 extra if you want the script returning. There is no extra charge if you
send your script on CD-ROM but please send a stamped addressed envelope
if you want the disk returning. To pay the reading fee you can either send a cheque/postal order with your script or use the payment
button above before you post your script. NB The payment buttons are set at £50 and £40 so if you're sending a hard copy which you want
returning and want to pay by credit or debit card, please make your payment then email us and we will send you a payment link for the additional £10.
