Writers normally only get one shot at interesting a company or producer with a script so it's essential that when the script is sent it's as good as it can possibly be.  It's always good to get another 'pair of eyes' to look at your work, as sometimes someone not emotionally attached to the script can spot a problem the writer may have missed.  Friends and family are usually available to do this, but unfortunately they're generally not as objective as they could be, and whilst praise is always welcome, a massaged ego isn't a quality writers need to develop in order to secure regular paid work!

A lot of writers rarely get the opportunity to receive a critique on their work from experienced professionals, so our script reading and appraisal service aims to match up writers with people from the industry whose comments and advice will hopefully guide the writer to produce a better rewrite.  Our script readers are either university/college lecturers or professional writers with numerous writing credits and/or qualifications.  Several of our readers also read scripts for TV companies and theatres.

The reading fee for full-length stage/radio plays, films or single episodes of TV series/serials is £40 per script. Short films, stage/radio plays (30 minutes or under), TV sitcom episodes and TV soap episodes are £30 per script.  You do not have to be a Script Vault member to have your script read but members will receive a 10% discount on these prices.  For membership details click here.

Scripts should be e-mailed or sent on floppy disk or CD-ROM, the file can be sent as a Word document or an RTF file.  Some of our readers can read scripts created using dedicated writing software such as Final Draft or Movie Magic, but please contact us before sending any files that are not RTF or Word.

If you can only send a hard copy of your script please add £10 to cover handling and return postage costs. There is no extra charge if you send a floppy disc or CD-ROM but please send a stamped addressed envelope if you want the disk returning.
